About, and Thanks

Forever thanks to some of the places, and people I know. Without them, I wouldn't be here.

Version 6

This version of Dark Gardens uses details of my charcoal drawings - it refeflects a point I've come to at the moment in my own work. It's a very simplistic layout, but better than the other, I feel. Calmer, more mature - I've come a long ways in the months (the last layout was up for a long time) since I last had a new main layout, and I wanted this site to show that.

I've tried hard to use (in the main layout at least) my own photos and work as much as I can. Version 6 is purely my own, no brushes, no photos from outside sources.

Dark Gardens

I went online in December of 2005, though I didn't have anything like this site then. Originally, the first incarnation of Dark Gardens began as a place for me to put my artwork. This was a place for my various galleries – and it still is, in a way.

Previously to this site, I had another site, more of a personal one. I wanted somewhere a little different, less informal and more specifically a 'design' site to put my work. I started out with a free account, but as the site grew, I decided I wanted something better. Dark Gardens as it is now was born on on October 10th 2006.

Some of the other things here, like wallpaper and avatars, are things I had been making all along. Same with avatars....I thought I'd put them up to share. Not everyone might like them, but that's fine. Artistic interpretation, and all that.

Somewhere along the line, I took to practicing code, in an attempt to get better at it. I wanted to learn. I looked around and saw some of the amazing sites out there, like Magitek, and Fragiled Arts. (which I learned not too long ago is shutting down. Ssad - it was a very inspireing site.) I wanted to see if I could ever be that good. I'm still not there, but I'm working on it.

People

For 'the one who wishes to remain nameless on the net,' (But who will be identified as 'A,' in hopes that she knows this is for her!) Thanks so much for helping me with those photos! Taking those pictures for/of me meant a lot. Much appreciated!

And, to Benevolent Whiner....many thanks for everything you did to help with the bumps in the road, and the search function! PHP would still be so much gibberish without you! It still is, to some extent, but...it gets better. I even know enough to make little things now.

(The next adventure will be Perl)
